Russia gets win number two with great second half

Russia claimed the second win of the Championship in Skopje after winning against Spain with a big twelve goal margin (34-22) . Spanish players played well in the first half, but the second 30 minutes went on in Russian dominance, with the favourite claiming an expected victory.
Russian players started the match in much better mood, dominating the first ten minutes in which they controlled the result. Spanish coach took a timeout in 16. minute after an 11-8 opponent lead and his team started playing much better handball, scoring three goals in a row and drawing the result (11-11). Russia had big troubles in defence, so after the suspension of Sinitsyna, Spain scored two more goals and took a two goal lead (15-13) with six minutes to go in the first half. Sabirova ended the spanish streak with a penalty goal, giving her team the much needed confidence, so the first half ended with a 16-16 draw.
Russia was the better team at the start of the sdecond half, creating a two-goal lead discpite the suspension of Tazhenova (19-17). First win for Netherlands after excellent game against Portugal

Great defending, excellent goalkeeping and scoring a lot of easy goals from fast breaks were the main reasons for Netherlands win over Portugal (32-20), in today first match of the second round in group “C” of W17 EHF Euro in Macedonia.

This was first win for girls in orange, after yesterday tight loss against Croatia. Netherlands players were better side from the first until last minute of the game, but the crucial lead were gained in the beginning of second half. They started this period with quick three goals in first 90 seconds for comfortable 16-10, and after two scored opportunities from Portugal, team from Netherlands had five goals in a row for huge 21-12 advantage, whats was sign that this match is over.

Jesse Van de Polder was magnificent on the goal of Netherlands and certainly one of the best in winning side, because she was pronounced for the player of the game in her side. Merel Freriks with eight goals was most eficiant in winning team, and Diana Oliveira with seven goals was first name in Portugal side.

Germans dominate against strong Romania

Germany fought a well deserved victory over Romania in group B (30-27), managing to put behind the loss from Russia from yesterday, and put a great show this afternoon in “Jane Sandanski” sports hall.
Germanay was the better team at the beginning of the match, creating a two goal lead (4-2, 5-3) in the opening minutes. German goalkeeper Ruhter was in great form, saving three clear shots, helping her team build a three goal lead (8-5), prompting the Romanian coach to take a timeout. Romania pulled one goal back (10-8), but minutes later the Germans took over once again, with Souza scoring three goals in a row for a 14-9 lead and a new Romanian timeout. That didn’t bring too many changes in the game, with Germans going to halftime break with a six goal lead (16-10).
Germany started the second half in a perfect way, scoring a penalty with a two minute suspension for a player from the Romanian team. This helped the Germans to build a big, 10 goal advantage (22-12) after just for minutes of ply in the second half. Romania finally played some good minutes in the game, scoring three times in a row, but then Souza took over again for the Germans with two quick goals (24-16).

Great Game: Croatia Outscored France For Place in Main Round

Croatia outscored France

Croatia under 17 woman handball team is in main round of W17 EHF Euro in Macedonia after the second win in group “C” in arena “Boris Trajkovski“, this time in the derby match against France with 31-26 (15-14).

This was very tight game, especially in the first half. France started well, had the control over the results in the most of the first part of the period. Then, the girls in white gain their first lead 11-10 and showed that they are not afraid of favorite opponent.

First ten minutes of the second half were crucial for Croatia win. First they went to 19-16 in 36th minute, but after five minutes Croatian’s had plus five (22-17) that boosts their confidence. This big advantage was not the end of the game, because players from France fought hard and with great second third of the half they got very close to only one goal negative (25-26). But, after that we could see three strait goals from Croatia for 29-25 in 55th minute, and for beginning of the celebration on their bench.

Croatia deserved the win, and France now have difficult task for getting in the main round, and that is to win tomorrow match against Netherlands.
